Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge is a commonly used traditional Chinese medicine in clinic. It contains many chemical components. Polysaccharide is one of its main chemical components. It has the functions of protecting heart muscle，protecting liver，antitumor，antioxidation，antiinflammation，etc. It has been widely concerned by domestic and foreign Scholars. The extraction，structure analysis，pharmacological action and quality control methods of Salvia miltiorrhiza polysaccharide were reviewed in this paper. The purpose is to provide reference for further research and development of Salvia miltiorrhiza polysaccharide.
