The recently studies have shown that 5-lipoxygenase is involved in the pathophysiology of Alzheimer’s disease. Inhibition of 5-lipoxygenase decreases amyloid β peptide (Aβ) and tau hyperphosphorylation,mitigates neuroinflammation,regulates synaptic function and ameliorates cognitive disorders in Alzheimer’s disease. In this review,we will summarize studies of 5-lipoxygenase in Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis.
