Objective：To review the advances in the treatment of insomnia with alkaloids，in order to accelerate the development of new anti-insomnia drugs.
Methods：To review the research literatures in recent years，to sort out the research results of alkaloid components in the treatment of insomnia，and to illustrate the role of alkaloid components in the treatment of insomnia.
Results：The alkaloids extracted from natural drugs effected the treatment of insomnia significantly.
Conclusion：Alkaloid have made remarkable achievements in the treatment of insomnia，anti-insomnia effect of natural drugs containing alkaloids needs further research and development.
