This article reviews the neuroprotective effect of paeoniflorin in the following several aspects: regulate autophagy, regulate immunity, inhibit inflammatory cytokines, adjust Ca2+, K+ channels, block acid-sensing ion channels, adjust MAPK、PI3K/Akt、Nrf2/ARE signal pathways, against neurotoxicity, activate cannabinoid receptor 2, antioxidant stress, inhibit neuron cells apoptosis.
