As a pivotal protective mechanism,it binds to antioxidant response element (ARE) to resist internal and external oxidative stress.Recent studies have shown that the Keap1-Nrf2-ARE signaling pathway plays an important neuroprotective role in patients with Parkinson’s disease. In this paper, the role and its underlying mechanisms of Nrf2 in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease(PD),as well as the latest research achievements targeting Nrf2 for PD are summarized.
